First Music Jam I'm participating in and I had a blast! I took inspiration from the soundtrack of Destiny 2 and Final Fantasy for the soundtrack and am really proud of what I've done over the last week :)

GAME DESCRIPTION

The soundtrack is designed for a 2D puzzle/platformer type game styled like Inside or Unravel. 

The main protagonist "Mergo" is a small child smothered by their parents love, never allowed to leave their house. One night he has a dream of adventure and self-discovery and chooses to run away from his home in search of this.

Mergo's journey quickly turns sour as he gets lost in a dark forest and he's forced to find his way back home while surviving the dangers of the outside world for the first time.

TRACK DETAILS

• "A Fateful Dream" is the main theme of our protagonist, and plays in moments of wonder and intrigue during the game. 

I chose to use a music box as the main instrument for the track in order to highlight his playfulness and sense of adventure.

• "Journey" details Mergo's exploration and adventures in the outside world as he journeys further from home and deeper into the forest. 

The track starts with Mergos theme played on a solo piano and builds to a dramatic orchestration over the course of the track to match Mergos knowledge of the world growing alongside it.

• "A Waking Nightmare" is an intense orchestral rendition of Mergo's main theme, this track is meant to showcase his playful adventure turning into a dangerous expedition as he tries to find his way back home in an unfamiliar world.

Really amping up the energy, this track uses dramatic strings and brass to turn Mergos theme on its head and instill a sense of danger into his adventure.

• "Run Away!" was composed for the final boss encounter as the last obstacle Mergo has to pass before safely making it back home. This track is designed to seamlessly loop also as it is a boss theme as opposed to a once-off track for a cinematic.

The track, inspired by the music of Destiny 2: The Witch Queen features heavy brass, strings, and percussion. This theme screams one thing; You Are In Danger. Guide Mergo through obstacles, ducking and weaving as you run from danger, be careful because one wrong move could spell disaster.
